Hen Weekends in Benalmadena

We have only praise for you. We only booked the football tickets from you, but your service was excellent.
Thanks once again - the football was amazing and Barcelona won 2-1 which made it even better!

Turkish Baths

Turkish Baths in Benalmadena
The recently constructed Turkish baths in the centre of Benalmadena are a must on your hen weekend. They are ideal as either a hangover cure or the perfect start to a day basking in the sun. Its purpose is not only to cleanse your body and skin; it provides an inner sense of well being, relieves stress and is the perfect way to relax. Just what the bride to be needs!

There are five processes to the Turkish baths: seasoning of the body with heat, massage, exfoliating the skin, soaping and most importantly relaxation.

The baths themselves consist of three interconnected steamy rooms completely lined with heated marble-floors. Begin with a shower in the hottest hall, (about 45ºC). In the centre is a large heated marble platform known as a Gobek Tasi, where you spend some time relaxing.

The effect of this room is to raise your body temperature, soften your skin, open your pores and make you perspire. You can bathe yourself by filling the bowl (tas) with hot water from the basins and pouring it over yourself. If the heat proves too much you can retire to a cooler room for a while or make use of the cold running water.

The next room has a temperature of 40ºC. Here you clean and exfoliate your body with the soap and the horsehair glove and refresh your body with water from the basins or the shower. You may wish to spend most of your time here, as both the temperature and the atmosphere are very comfortable.

Afterwards, you can move into the cooler room where you can simply relax and wait for your body to cool down. This room, where the Turkish massages take place, has a temperature of 30ºC. If you decide to have the other specialised massages you will be given a dressing gown and will be escorted to a dry room upstairs.

You may stay in the baths for up to two hours, which is plenty of time to relax and soak up the atmosphere. While you are relaxing in the baths, those of you who want a massage will be called up in groups of two, for a 25 minute massage of your choice. A massage is €29 extra, payable at the Turkish baths.

A soft mellow music brings a chilled mood in the baths and throughout your visit they advise you do not make a lot of noise and respect others around you. For groups of 12 or more, you will have sole use of the bath.

Your Henorita guide will accompany you to the Turkish baths from your accommodation. On arrival you will receive a towel, a pestemal (a cotton cloth you wrap around your body) which is worn during the whole bathing process. Those who are particularly modest should bring swimming shorts and wear them underneath the pestemal.

You will also be given a tas (bowl) for pouring water over the body, a kese (coarse mitt made out of horse hair) for exfoliating and massaging. These will be returned at the end of your visit. You also have a diverse selection of soaps to choose from.

After you have finished your baths and massages you get changed and will be taken to a chill-out room with loungers, cushions and comfy seats. Here, you will be served tea, infusions or coffee. It will also give you the opportunity to cool down before going outside into the scorching heat!
